We have extended the call for new Case Studies to join our Student Engagement Hub, the new deadline for Submissions is June 22nd.  Early this year, NStEP launched a new resources hub for student engagement. The hub showcases best practices in student engagement from across Irish higher education. We know there are many more great examples of student engagement, so are delighted to re-open submissions for inclusion in the hub!

The National Student Engagement Programme (NStEP) works to strengthen student engagement in higher education decision-making, ensuring students actively participate across governance, teaching and learning, quality assurance, and the wider student learning experience. We work to promote partnership between students and staff, supporting dialogue and collaboration, and creating space for students and staff to co-create change for the benefit of all in the learning community.

We know from our Case Study Hub, which you can find here, there is lots of good practice in student engagement and partnership all across Irish higher education. We are once again, calling on staff and students to submit short case studies of good practice to be published in the hub.

Making an Submission

By clicking the green buttons below you will find Case Study templates (word doc and PPT format). These templates provide an outline of the kind of information we are looking for. You should aim to include:

  • Background and context to your case study project or initiative, e.g. what issue was the project addressing
  • How your project or initiative was developed, with particular reference to student engagement and partnership
  • What actions were undertaken, with clear examples and evidence
  • Reflections on what worked well, what could be improved, and what did project participants learn from it.

Please keep the overall word count to an absolute maximum of 1500  for written submissions and 10 minutes for audio or video submissions (submissions can be less than this). You are invited to include images, video, links or other supporting documentation also. We encourage different formats and creative approaches!

Criteria

Submitted Case Studies should meet the following criteria:

  1. The case study must demonstrate relevance to issues of student voice, student engagement in decision-making, and/or student partnership.
  2. There must be evidence of student participation and/or student-staff collaboration in the project or initiative outlined in the case study.
  3. The submitted case study must demonstrate evidence of reflective practice e.g. what worked well, what could have been improved, and what did participants learn that others could learn from.

Submissions will be reviewed against these criterion.

We strongly encourage submissions written by students and staff. We also welcome case studies from outside of the Republic of Ireland.

If you would like to reach out and ask for advice before you begin preparing your case study submission, please email NStEP Programme Manager at nstep@usi.ie.

The deadline for all submissions is 22nd June 2023.
